The Kalba Open Swimming Championship will kick off today at Lake Kalba in the Eastern Region under the auspices of the Sharjah Sports Council, and organized by the Thinkers Sports Events Management Company, in cooperation with the Emirates Swimming Federation and Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, with the participation of nearly 300 swimmers and swimmers from citizens and residents from different countries.
HE Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Sports Council, said: “The Kalba Open Swimming Competitions are one of the community sporting events that are held in the emirate to enhance its sporting status, and we look forward to a great success for this event, which is held in its first edition, and we invite everyone to attend and enrich the event, which finds great participation. What enhances the exciting competition and highlight the distinctive talents of the two groups to participate in other tournaments, as this event has a major role in stimulating tourism also in the Eastern Region in general and the city of Kalba in particular.
Ahmed Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, praised the efforts made for the success of the Kalba Swimming Championship with distinguished participation, which gives the championship additional momentum and wide interest, beginning with the interest of the Sharjah Sports Council and other parties, in order for the championship to be at the highest level of success.
Nabil Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, confirmed that the work committees have completed all preparations exceptionally and completely in accordance with the directives of the Sharjah Sports Council, and in front of them are security and safety factors and all other necessary requirements, which contribute to the event in an elegant way.
Abdullah Mubarak Al-Zahmi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Swimming Federation and a member of the Technical Committee of the International Federation, revealed that the competitions will witness the establishment of three races, which are swimming for a distance of 1000 meters in a rectangular shape for ages from 12 to 13 years, while swimming will be for a distance of 2000 meters for the age group of «14-15 -16 »years, and swimming a distance of 3000 meters for ages 17 years and over.
