His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Sports Council, and His Excellency Jumah Al Balushi, Vice President of the Emirates Swimming Federation, crowned the first winners in the Kalba Open Swimming Competition that was held on Kalba Lake in the Emirate of Sharjah yesterday, with the participation of about 170 swimmers of both sexes in the presence of Great crowd.
In the results of the girls ‘ages “12-13” years, Meera Al-Shehhi won the golden medal, followed by Lujain Abu Shadi with the silver medal, then Alia Al-Wakeel bronze, and in the girls’ category for the ages of “14-16”, which witnessed a fierce competition as the first three were not separated by only a few seconds. Noura Al Husseini won the golden medal, followed by Meera Al Shehhi and Maha Al Shehhi, who won the silver and bronze, respectively.
In the boys’ category for ages “14-16” years, Salem Ghaleb Sabt won the golden medal. Begad Al-Manzalawi won the silver, while Abdul Qadir Shugri won the bronze, and in the fourth and fifth places Saif Eddine Tamer and Moaz Wael won according to the order.
As for ages 12 -13 “For boys, Hussein Al-Sayegh won the golden medal, followed by Hamza Bakhit in silver, then Saeed Shihab in the bronze, while Ahmed Tariq and Omar Hafez ranked fourth and fifth in order.
In the category of girls over the age of 17 years, Russian Katia Meginova won the golden medal, followed by Josephine Seidel with the silver medal, then Christia Selma with the bronze medal .. In the general stage for a distance of 3 km, Emirati Youssef Al Matroushi won the golden medal, while Georgi Field won the silver and Adham Khaled won the bronze, While Omar Al Hammadi and Mahmoud Daaboul won the fourth and fifth places, respectively.
His Excellency Issa Hilal Al-Hazami said that these competitions, in their first edition, constituted a great success and represented a distinguished event within the framework of the Council’s keenness to pay attention to sports and community events in order to achieve its strategic objectives and implement the directives and vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Support of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikh Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Council.
He added that this success is represented in many gains, as it constituted a new addition to the series of sporting events in the emirate and also achieved great gains in societal terms with the participation of a large number of swimmers of both sexes from outside the country in addition to the tourism promotion of the beautiful city of Kalba, which is part of the Council’s objectives in integrating sports roles and societal as well as the high turnout of the public to follow the tournament, one of the factors behind the success of the first edition, along with the efforts of the partner sponsors from various governmental and private agencies.
Nabil Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, extended his thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Saqr bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, for the generous care and unlimited support that led to the city of Kalba having great happiness by hosting the first edition of the competitions and its distinguished success, stressing that the championship deserves to be organized regularly and in a way that contributes to shedding light on the beauty of Kalba Lake and also support the sport of swimming in the Emirates. Jumah Al Balushi, Vice President of the Emirates Swimming Federation, said that the championship was technically and organizationally successful and can be described as a new and fruitful addition to the agenda of the current season. The coronation was attended by Khalifa Al Kaabi, Financial Director at the Emirates Swimming Federation, Ali Hussain Al Loughani, Chairman of the Kalba Football Association, Hassan Al Zaabi, Board Member of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, Ahmed Al Hosani, Executive Director of Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, Yasser Dokhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department at the Council, and Nabil Ahmed Al Mazrouei Chairman of the tournament organizing committee and a number of club officials and representatives and parents.
