SHARJAH, 14th November, 2015 (WAM)–Ali Salem Al Madfa’, Chairman of the Sharjah International Marine Sports (SIMSC), has approved the Club’s events and activities calendar for 2015-2016.

The approval came during a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club.

Chaired by Ali Salem Al Madfa’ and attended by members of the Board of Directors, SIMSC’s board approved the 2015-2016 events calendar, including Martyr’s Day at Al Majaz Water Front, National Day in Kalba, Khor Fakkan, Al Hamriya, Dibba Al Hosn, Jet Ski racing in Khor Fakkan, Cleaning of Khalid’s Lagoon, Shawaheef racing, Fishing competition, Open water swimming competition. Events and activities also include participation in Sharjah Heritage Days, Sir Bu Nair racing and Al Hamriya and Al Khor beaches cleaning campaign.

SIMSC’s events and activities aim to spread awareness of marine sports in the Emirate of Sharjah and highlight the Emirate’s maritime heritage, in addition to implanting and encouraging mutual culture as well as acquainting the public with Sharjah’s significance and position in organizing and hosting local and global marine sports events.

Preparations for the National Sport Day celebrations and accompanying events have also been finalized at the meeting.

For his part, Al Madfa’ underlined the SIMSC’s keenness on diversifying events and activities to range between competitive and societal to cover all cities of the Emirate so that all segments of society can have the opportunity to enjoy them.

During the meeting, the financial report of SIMSC and its publicity file as part of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports have been approved.

Al Madfa’ also emphasised the strategic partnership with Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority in organising the biggest and most important event in the Middle East, “the final round of the Formula 1 race” and providing all means of support for the success of the race.
