The Sailing and Modern Rowing Committee of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club held its first meeting chaired by Hamid Ali Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Committee, member of the club’s board of directors, and in the presence of the members Khaled Muhammad Sultan Al Owais, Jumah Rashid Al Mazrouei, and Yunus Sharar, the rapporteur, in addition to the presence of Dr. Muhammad Abdulazim, the strategic planning advisor And institutional excellence in the club.

Hamid Al Muhairi welcomed the members of the committee, and conveyed to them the greetings and wishes of Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, and conveyed to them the Council’s wishes for success in their mission on which the club holds many hopes and ambitions. Al Muhairi considered the Sailing and Modern Rowing Committee to be one of the important committees operating in the club because it includes distinctive modern sporting activities that receive great interest from its practitioners and followers.

The committee chairman reviewed the meeting’s agenda, which included defining the members ’competence and tasks, discussing a project to develop modern windsurfing and rowing, as well as defining the strategic objectives of the committee, and determining the size of the available tools used by competitors in both sailing and rowing.

For his part, Khaled Al Owais, a member of the committee, talked about the proposed plan for the committee’s work during the coming period in the sport of sailing and modern rowing, in line with the goals of the club, and according to the approach and vision of the UAE Federation of Modern Sailing and Rowing.

As for the rapporteur Yunus Sharar, he gave a detailed presentation on the programs to develop the sport of modern rowing at the emirate level, and called for work to expand the activities of the committee to include interest in a number of other modern marine sports such as (kayaking and windsurfing).
