The community event was held at Al Rafisah Dam in the city of Khorfakkan, one of the most beautiful tourist
destinations in the Emirate of Sharjah, where the participants took part in kayaking challenges for a distance of
1000 meters for both categories of men and women.
The result of the race in the men’s category was, Pamela de Silva and Martin Matthew winning the first place by
passing the race in a time of 8 minutes and 4 seconds. Ahmed Al-Tefaq and Tariq Al Zarooni came in second
with a time of 8 minutes and 30 seconds, and Rashid and Zakaria Al Hafian took third place with a time of 9
minutes and 6 Seconds
In the female category, Amy Middleton and Amy Wright came first with a time of 9 minutes and 11 seconds, and
Shathrah Al-Hajjaj and Lubna Ali came in second with a time of 11 minutes and 14 seconds, and Moza Al-Ghafli
and Maryam Al Shamsi won third place with a time of 12 minutes and 49 seconds.
After the end of the competitions, Mohammed Ahmed Al Kamali, a member of the Board of Directors of the
Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, accompanied by Ahmed Al Hosani, the club’s general manager,
honored the owners of the first places in the first challenge of its kind in the Emirate of Sharjah.
On this occasion, Muhammad Al-Kamali and Ahmed Al-Hosani congratulated the winners and participants in the
kayak challenge, whose number reached more than 50 competitors in both categories, men and women, praising
their technical level and physical fitness.
At the end of his speech, Al Kamali stressed that the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club is keen to support
and develop kayaking, as it is one of the Olympic sports that can have a strong presence on the international
scene.
