His Excellency Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club said in an exclusive interview with the Emirates News Agency / WAM / that the club established two years ago the Formula One Powerboat Team under the name of “Sharjah” and participated in many international races with the aim of benefiting and promoting the Emirate of Sharjah as it will develop talent skills by establishing a special training center for marine sports in the city of Sharjah to work on achieving the club’s strategic goals, starting next year 2021, in cooperation with the Sharjah Powerboat Team, which will provide training courses and workshops for teenagers and youth, and later it will set up camps A summer session supervised by specialized trainers .. indicating the possibility of establishing this center in other cities in the emirate at a later stage.
Al Midfa explained that the annual marine activities organized by the club are witnessing great turnout and interest on the part of the public, which calls for the club to provide many of these sports to involve them and raise their interaction rates, indicating that in light of the Covid 19 pandemic, all these activities have been stopped for the sake of safety. The club is also keen on the safety of all marine sports practitioners and the marine environment and to provide the appropriate environment for all age groups to enjoy these sports by following local laws and legislation of the Emirates Marine Sports Federation and international affiliated to the International Federation of Marine Sports and circulating them to all maritime races and events according to their category and the club seeks permanently To secure the utmost degree of marine safety.
Khaled Al-Midfa emphasized that the club seeks to establish sports relations with various sports, local and private institutions and clubs within the framework of the state’s policies and orientations, developing legal and administrative systems related to the practice of marine sports in the emirate and supervising it, as well as presenting and encouraging initiatives aimed at developing new types of marine sports that are inspired by the local heritage of the emirate. In addition to following up the activities of marine sports and attending conferences, workshops and seminars aimed at promoting and developing marine sports, concluding agreements, memoranda of understanding with the authorities, preparing and implementing introductory and promotional campaigns aimed at spreading the culture of marine sports.
